NZ: Unregistered dentist midway through extracting tooth during police and health officials raid


While he was midway through extracting a patient’s tooth, an unregistered dentist’s makeshift clinic was raided by police and Ministry of Health officials. Chenglin Li, 70, had injected anaesthetic, performed root canals and used his own X-ray machine on hundreds of patients while working at his makeshift dental surgery in east Auckland.

Genes Shape Oral Microbe Makeup


No matter how much they brush their teeth, some people still get more cavities than others, in part because of differences in genetics and the make-up of the microbes in their mouths. A new study has found human genetic factors that influence the oral microbiome and may increase risk of cavities and tooth loss in some people.
