Dentist eases the pain for Ukraine refugee


Yulia Voituk fled Ukraine a few weeks ago under an Australian government emergency evacuation scheme, there was little time to do anything more than grab a few belongings...dentist Slav Vyater has stepped in to welcome Voituk and her two-year-old daughter Anna to their new temporary home, and complete Voituk’s dental work, pro bono.

AUD$107,000)* in funding. SMH: Dental waiting lists hit 100,000 with 15-month delay for appointment


Public dental waiting lists in NSW have blown out to almost 100,000 people with the average wait time for a first dentist appointment sitting at more than 460 days. Dentists warn pandemic lockdowns have exacerbated delays with "chronic underfunding of the public system and surging out-of-pocket dental costs" forcing huge numbers of patients to wait years to have tooth decay, gum disease, broken fillings and cavities treated.

This week, however, the ADA finds itself in the news after hackers broke into its networks and unleashed ransomware. Hackers triggered the malware this weekend forcing the ADA to certain critical systems offline. Web-based chat, email and telephone services were all impacted as the ADA investigated the situation.
